The Westside varsity football team marched into the quarterfinals in Kearney Friday night looking to advance in the state semifinals, but they came up short.  Although Plautz threw for 245 yards on 23 receptions, the defense wasn’t enough as they gave up 368 yards on the ground to stop the Bearcats. Kearney ran a lot of options and draws to the outside, and it proved to be too much for the Westside defense.  The loss ends their 2017 campaign with a record of 8-3 after making the State Quarterfinals for the third time in the last five years.
